Class policies

• Tests
  • All test work will be done via a text interface. No GUI or WebUI administration tools allowed, except Hobbit. Use of X and GUI editors is allowed.
  • Test answers will be placed in an organized manner between the test questions.
  • Test answers will include copies of the commands given to complete the task.
  • All new services must be monitored by Hobbit in order to be completely setup.
• Configuration files
  • All configuration file changes will use revision management.
• User Accounts
  • New accounts get home directories unless they are only for mail or authentication.
  • New accounts will be set to have bash as the default shell.

Useful tools

When making changes to a file, you can show the differences between the old file ( you made a copy, right? ) and the new file using diff. For instance, "diff /etc/syslog.conf /etc/syslog.2007Nov30.conf"
