I have benefitted for more than a decade by using Debian every day. Not only do we likely all know many other people who directly use Debian every day, but we probably all benefit indirectly from Debian every day.
Thanks to Debian for 18 fantastic years.

Register for ABLEconf now in order to get entered into the prize drawing.
Finally got around to some page updates. Some general updates on the Stammtische page and added information for the new East Valley Free Software Stammtisch.
The East Valley Free Software Stammtisch moved to Iguana Macks a couple of months ago. After having met in Tempe for over a decade, we moved a few miles east to Mesa. It's a good location and we've mostly had a good turnout. Sorry about December Brian :).
LinuxJournal recently published my article on using SSH to safely transit a compromised host.
I've been using these techniques a lot for my classes. I'm using a new classroom and paperwork issues are restricting my laptop to either being on the classroom network ( which I need as it provides resources for class ) or on the Internet ( which I need as I access the Internet for those resources I pull from my laptop ). I need both at the same time, but can only get one at a time.
ABLEconf is the brand new Free Software conference for Arizona. Our goal is to introduce Free Software such as GNU/Linux, Firefox, Thunderbird, the GIMP, Inkscape and OpenOffice.org to the general public. We'll also have geek stuff like programming and storage and toys and games :).
The inaugural ABLEconf event is being held on Software Freedom Day, Saturday, September 20th 2008, at the University for Advancing Technology (UAT) from 10:00 to 17:00.
The schedule shows a variety of talks as well as continental breakfast.
There is no cost to attend ABLEconf and no need to pre-register.
Arizona Center for Germanic Cultures' second annual Oktoberfest will ring with bands from German, Alphorns and naturally the klinking of Krüge.
Stop by the Margaret T. Hance Park from 10:00 to 22:00 for an authentic Oktoberfest experience.

The Free Software Stammtisch is a social environment for GNU, Linux, *BSD and Free Software enthusiasts. Get there any time starting at 19:00 until at least or 22:00.
The Stammtisch now meets at two locations in the Phoenix, Arizona area: Chandler and Avondale. There is also a Free Software Stammtisch in Prescott
A Stammtisch is the table at which regular customers meet. In Germany, it's common for groups of friends or people with common interest to get together on a regular basis. English terms that might encompass similar activities would be special interest group and bridge club. Stammtisch often gets directly translated as "regulars' table".
In Germany there are many, many Stammtische. Some are groups of friends that have been meeting since they were kids and some are people with a common interest such as a Motorrad Stammtisch ( motorcyle enthusiasts meeting ).
