SCaLE SSH Tunnels link to video

Here's the link to the video feed for my Tunneling With SSH talk tonight at SCaLE9x. 16:30 California time. Requires allowing javascript for conferencebywire.com and flash.

ready for my first SCaLE 9x presentation

Earlier this afternoon I finished the Moodle setup for my first presentation, Moodle GIFT Question Format, at SCaLE 9x. The presentation is in an hour.

I added the presentation to the Moodle instance. Now the presentation knows where the class is and the class knows where the presentation is. I just need to get the info to those attending :).

Arizona BoF at SCaLE 9x

There is an Arizona BoF Saturday night at SCaLE 9x. We will meet in Los Angeles C at 19:00 after my Moodle GIFT Question Format presentation.

The conference reception and weakest-geek show start at 19:30.

got Percona some consulting

Yesterday, I got Percona some consulting. Feels good to give back to a company that has certainly helped me out without ever interacting with me.

One of my students asked for references on improving a MySQL setup that had rolled over for his job. While I did recommend some local resources, I also recommended Percona. We had just talked about performance tuning, so the question was even on-topic :).

FUDcon:Tempe 2011

At FUDcon today. The largest FUDcon turnout ever. Lot's of good conversation in the hallway track.

Really enjoyed Curtis Zinzilieta's performance tuning basics presentation, Can't be here tomorrow, so I'll miss his second presentation if he makes it (he also has obligations and wasn't planning on being here tomorrow). Luckily he made a similar proposal for ABLEconf :).

ABLEconf CfP deadline this Saturday, 2011Jan22

Update: The Call for Presentations deadline was extended to Saturday, 2010Feb05, in order to take advantage of FUDcon being in town with lots of great potential speakers in the crowd.

Added list of orgs to contact for ABLEconf

At tonight's PLUG meeting I asked everyone there to help promote ABLEconf. To that end, it was requested that I post a list of organizations to contact, so I pulled the list out of last year's wiki and created a blog entry.

If you are interested in helping us, please choose appropriate organizations for the Call for Presentations as that closes soon and we still need to reach more people.

Stammtisch pages updated

Finally got around to some page updates. Some general updates on the Stammtische page and added information for the new East Valley Free Software Stammtisch.

The East Valley Free Software Stammtisch moved to Iguana Macks a couple of months ago. After having met in Tempe for over a decade, we moved a few miles east to Mesa. It's a good location and we've mostly had a good turnout. Sorry about December Brian :).

Presentation accepted for SCaLE 9x

Apparently my Tunneling with SSH presentation was accepted for SCaLE 9x as I'm on the schedule. No email confirmation yet. I presume that'll come through soon.

This presentation is an expansion and update of my Linux Journal article on how to Use SSH to Cross a Suspect Host Securely from last year.
